History of Antalya
Our clinic is located in Antalya, Turkey's most popular holiday destination. Welcoming approximately 15 million visitors annually, Antalya is the 5th largest city in Turkey with a population of 2.5 million.
In the archaeological excavations, it was determined that people lived in Antalya and its surroundings 40 thousand years ago. Since 2000 BC, the region has been under the rule of city states such as Hittite, Pamphylia, Lycia, Cilicia, Persia, Alexander the Great and his successors Antigonos, Ptolemais, Seleucus and the Kingdom of Pergamon. The city of Antalya was named after the Pergamon King Attalos II (160 BC - 138 BC). Antalya (Attaleia) means "Home of Attalos".
After the end of the Pergamon Kingdom, the Roman Empire, the Byzantine Empire, the Seljuks and the Ottoman Empire ruled the city respectively and left important traces in the cultural heritage of the city.
